What we build

Start to finish

Boathouses, docks and piers, bulkheads and boat lifts. We do our own work, so the same team sees your project from the design through the build.

New boathouse with a sundeck on top and a wooden staircase

Boathouses

Boathouses come in many shapes and sizes, and they're an excellent place to store and protect a boat. We design each one, and the lift that goes inside it, around what the customer needs. Some carry a sundeck up top.

  • Design to build
  • Lifts inside
  • Sundeck options
L-shaped wooden dock with steps down to the water

Docks and piers

New docks, dock expansions and piers, floating or stationary depending on your needs and budget. Decking can be wood, WearDeck or Sure-Step, and floating docks can be Connect-A-Dock. Worn dock? We can look at it and help you decide whether to repair or replace.

  • Floating or stationary
  • Benches and swim platforms
  • Ladders, edging and cleats
  • Storage lockers
  • Power stations
Flat-panel vinyl bulkhead with a wood cap and pilings along the water

Bulkheads

A bulkhead, or seawall, protects waterfront property from storms and erosion. We build them in treated wood or vinyl, and we repair bulkheads and boat ramps too.

  • Wood, 2.5 CCA treated
  • Vinyl panel
  • Bulkhead repair
  • Boat ramp repair
Aluminum elevator boat lift raised at a bulkhead

Boat lifts

A lift holds your boat above the water, away from wakes and weather. We install lifts at docks and inside boathouses, including Hi-Tide lifts, and handle repairs, motor replacements and modifications on existing lifts.

  • Elevator lifts
  • Jet ski and PWC lifts
  • Aluminum or galvanized
  • Motor replacements
  • Repairs and modifications

How a job goes

From sketch to pilings

Building on the water takes a permit before it takes a hammer. We handle the drawings and the paperwork along with the build.

  1. 01

    Talk it over

Call or send the form. We meet with you, hear what you want built and set up a time to look at the property.

  2. 02

    Survey and draw

We survey the property, take the measurements, draw a diagram of the project and send you the estimate.

  3. 03

    Permits

We file the application with the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources (DMR), then apply for any city or county permits. Permit fees vary.

  4. 04

    Build

The crew builds it. A boat lift install can take about a day; bulkhead and pier work takes longer.

“In the beginning I met with Linda and told her what I wanted. She drew it up and sent me the estimate. I said go with it and I had to do nothing else.”

Good to know

Before you build

A few things worth knowing before you start a waterfront project.

Bulkheads

Wood or vinyl?

Most coastal bulkheads are built from 2.5 CCA treated lumber or vinyl. Wood is economical, does a fine job against erosion, and the treatment protects it from parasites in the water. Vinyl costs a bit more, but it resists chemicals, mildew and marine borers, and it flexes with high-pressure waves instead of breaking apart or caving in.

Boat lifts

Size the lift right

Weigh the boat with its engine and a full tank of fuel, then choose a lift rated above that. A 5,000 lb boat needs at least a 6,000 lb lift. Aluminum lifts are built from 6061-T6 alloy; hot-dipped galvanized steel lifts rust over time, especially in salt water.

Hurricanes

Ready for a storm

Set the lift so that, at its highest, the boat sits well above the dock and seawall. When a storm is coming, secure the boat to the lift and fasten the lift in position with lines.
